Bookmarklet

A bookmarklet is a clever link that you can add to your browsers favourites or bookmarks list, and which gives extra functionality to your browser. The BookkooB bookmarklets help you quickly get access to price details for any book that you have found online.

Imagine you are surfing a website that has a review of a book you are interested it. By clicking on the BookkooB bookmarklet your browser will open another window showing you the price comparison details for that book.

To be able to locate the correct book, the bookmarklet scans the page you are viewing to try and find an ISBN for the book. If it finds one it will show you the price comparison details. (An ISBN is a 10-digit number that uniquely identifies a book.)

How to add the bookmarklet

The easiest way to add the bookmarklet is to click on one of the following link using your right-hand mouse button and then choose 'add to favourites' or 'add to bookmarks' (depending on which browser you use). Alternatively, on most current browsers, you can click the left-hand mouse button on the link, keep it held down and drag it up to the 'links' or 'personal' toolbar, and then release the mouse. This gives you easy access to the link.

How to use the bookmarklet

When you are on a page that includes details of a book (example), click on the bookmarklet, which will be titled similar to 'Bookkoob UK'. It will be found on your favourites or bookmarks menus, or on one of the toolbars at the top of your browser depending on how you added it. Once you click it, and as long as there is an ISBN on the page, a new window will open showing you the price comparison details for that book on BookkooB.

If there are more than one ISBNs on the page, the first five will be used, which should mean one of the windows will have the details of the book you are interested in.
